*Go Monarchs!!* We are excited to announce a *1960's Papillion LaVista High School Class Reunion, which is being planed for classes 1960 thru 1969. As many of you know a lot has changed since you graduated from Papillion back in the 60's. Papillion has continued to be an excellent place to attend school. We all have fond memories that take us back to those days with friends at old Papio High. Most people have a defining event that shapes their lives forever and for many it is something that takes them back to their experiences at PLVHS. We are excited to put this event together and bring PLVHS classmates back to relive some of those memories and get a chance to catch up with classmates not only from their class but from the other classes of the 1960's. Check out those classmates in the Hall of Fame* like Linda Garcia Perez ’64, Jim Thomas '65, Tom Rahn ’66, Connie Ricks Engle '67, etc. There is so much more to catch up on, so come and be part of a great event. This will be an opportunity of a lifetime, you will probably never have that opportunity ever again. We hope to see you there....... Some classes are planning events on Friday night, August 12th. The classes of *1965, 1966 and 1967* will be gathering for a casual event on Friday night at Tom Buffington’s home-13704 S. 131 Street, Springfield, NE 68059. It starts at 5 p.m. with hosts providing Sloppy Joe sandwiches, baked beans, chips, and iced tea/water. Guests are asked to B.Y.O.B. and a snack, side dish or dessert. Come on over and let the good times roll! There will be several teachers from the 1960's attending so you will have a chance to meet & talk with them. *It is going to be a Great Event and a fun time to be had by all . . . .* *We will use this site to provide updated information on the event so please check it frequently* *and refer everyone you can to this site...........* When: August 13, 2011 Where: Ballroom at the Ramada Inn (Casual Affair) (previously the *CoCo Keys* Water Resort) 3321 So. 72nd. August 2nd, 2011 *PAPILLION HIGH HISTORY OF SPORTS GOES TO PRESS* DON JOERN, long time Papio/LaVista Junior High teacher and coach, has recently completed a sports history of old Papillion High School. The 900 page book includes the years 1900 to 1969. Don got his material by researching the Papillion Times in an exhaustive project that took two and a half years. The articles are typed in a neat and orderly year-to-year format. Eventually the whole volume will be available for purchase, but for now we are printing the decade of the 1960’s to coincide with the upcoming 60’ Decade Reunion, 300 plus pages of Papillion sports articles during the 1960’s. Bill Aken, who taught with Don for years, has added a cover page, table of contents, forward and acknowledgments as the icing on this impressive project. Also, thanks to the following business partners who have helped make this project possible. Papillion Sump Memorial Library, Daniell Crossing, Dort’s Bar and Grill, Lily Landscaping, P-LV School Foundation, Bob Kremke-Jim Seawards, Dennis Smith, Brentwood Auto Wash, Tilford Printing and Gladwin Machinery.
